KUCHING: The Law family is seeking the public’s help to trace a woman who performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on Law suffering from a heart attack at the Kuching Airport on April 30.

The Law family wishes to thank the unidentified woman who has saved his life by performing CPR.

With permission from the family, Sin Chew Daily interviewed cardiologist Dr Tang Sie Hing, who related how the woman had saved one life.

Returning from a trip to China recently, 55-year-old Law from Sibu had complained of chest pain and stomach pain.

He sought medical treatment at Sibu Hospital but his condition did not improve.

As the pain aggravated at midnight, he decided to seek medical treatment in Kuching by taking a morning flight from Sibu.

As soon as he walked to the arrival hall of Kuching International Airport, Law lost his consciousness.

A young woman behind him immediately performed CPR on him for about 30 minutes, with the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) at the airport.

Passers-by took photographs and videos of the incident at the airport.

Law was later sent to the emergency department of Sarawak General Hospital where he was given a CT brain scan and then transferred to Timberland Medical Centre.

He underwent a coronary angioplasty immediately as an angiogram showed two vessels were 100 percent blocked.

Law had since regained consciousness, said Dr Tang.

“The patient, family members and friends express their heartfelt gratitude to this young lady for her timely effort; as without her intervention the outcome would be unimaginable,” said Dr Tang.

The family is seeking the public’s help to trace the woman in order to thank her.

Dr Tang does not rule out that the woman could be a medical professional or someone who has undergone CPR training.

He urged private companies to provide CPR training for their staff and provide AEDs at public places, especially sports venues such as stadiums for emergency.
