Toys, story books for children at Putra Heights relief centre
Seri Serdang state assemblyman Abbas Salimmi Che Adzmi (L4) hands over used toys to the toy and mini library at the Masjid Putra Heights relief centre.

SUBANG: A toy and mini library was set up at the temporary relief centre where some of the Putra Heights residents affected by the gas pipeline blast are staying.

Seri Serdang state assemblyman Abbas Salimmi Che Adzmi handed over used toys donated by Kiwanis International, some individuals and non-governmental organisations for the children at the relief centre.

The toys have been carefully selected and disinfected before they were sent to the relief centre, Abbas said, adding that the toys would help the children recover psychologically.

A total of 110 children are staying at the relief centre at Masjid Putra Heights and another 30 at Dewan Camelia.

“We hope the toys would be good companions for the children,” said Abbas.

Once the temporary relief centres cease operation, the toys will be handed to the social welfare department for future use.

“The department can also decide to present the toys to other needy groups,” he said.

The social welfare department has set up an activity area for children at the relief centre at Masjid Putra Heights.

“Children will be occupied with toys and books after returning from school,” he said.
