Myanmar Airways International (MAI) has announced the launch of its direct flight from Yangon to Penang, scheduled to begin in April.

Penang shares a historic cultural connection with Myanmar. George Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Penang, is renowned for Malaysia’s best-restored and re-adaptive traditional architecture, as well as a multitude of heritage trades and arts.

In addition to expanding its flight network, MAI has successfully renewed its IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certification, which is recognized as the highest standard in the global aviation industry. 

Having been certified by the International Air Transport Association since 2012, the renewal highlights MAI’s commitment to operational excellence and passenger safety.

The IOSA program is globally recognized for its rigorous safety assessments, covering all aspects of airline flight operations and quality management.

Passing this stringent evaluation is a significant achievement, as all IATA member airlines must undergo the assessment every two years.

The renewal of MAI’s IOSA certification underscores the airline’s commitment to sustainable reliability, operational excellence, and delivering high-quality safety and service on every flight.
