MIRI: A Malay doctor spends own money to decorate a Christmas tree in the ward to cheer up patients and medical staff.
Anaesthetist Dr Mohammad Dasril Anas, who has been serving the Miri hospital for 11 years, decorated Christmas tree at the ward in intensive care unit with his own money for many years.
Although he does not celebrate Christmas, it does not stop him from putting up Christmas decorations.
Dr Mohammad Dasril told Sin Chew Daily that he loves decorating Christmas tree and he has done so for many years for hospital staff and patients.
He is also very particular about the colour and style for the Christmas tree and he comes with a theme without fail each year to cheer up patients and staff.
Decorating a Christmas tree gives him satisfaction and a sense of achievement and he posted the photo on social media right after it is done.
On his Instagram, Dr Mohammad Dasril describes himself a deco enthusiast + Zumba & strong nation instructor + part time makeup enthusiast.
For this year, the 150cm Christmas tree which cost between RM500 and RM600 was sponsored by a specialist while Dr Mohammad Dasril bought the lights, ribbons, balls and other items for the tree.
“I am happy whenever I see patients and my colleagues looking at the tree with smiles. It gives me immense pleasure and I am proud of it,’’ he said.
To Dr Mohammad Dasril, it is not just a Christmas tree but it signifies love and sharing to cheer one up with the festive mood.
