KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Education Minister Lim Hui Ying said more than 9,000 new teachers would report to work at schools nationwide from January 2024.

She said the education ministry had received the statistics on new teacher positions from the Education Service Commission (SPP), and that these teachers would report to work early next year.

”The four subjects that experience most severe teacher shortage problems are Bahasa Melayu, English, Islamic education and design and industrial art.

“The education ministry will strive to ensure the availability of teachers at all times,” she told the Dewan Rakyat today.
