
KUALA TERENGGANU: PAS President Tan Sri Hadi Awang has dropped hints that he may be stepping down as party president due to health reasons.
The Member of Parliament for Marang expressed his intention of stepping down to top party leaders during a retreat held in Terengganu last weekend.
Sources said the ulama faction in the party initiated internal discussion to persuade deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man to take over.
Sinar Harian said quoting sources that Hadi had hinted his poor health during the retreat.
It was reported that Hadi, who had difficulty in breathing, was admitted to hospital in June 2023.
He was first treated in Putrajaya Hospital before he was transferred to the National Heart Institute.
