BENTONG: The Genting Highlands toll gantry construction has been ordered to stop due to insufficient documents submitted to the Bentong Municipal Council.

Council Chairman Datuk Rose Samsul Abdul Razak confirmed with Sin Chew Daily today that the stop-work order was issued on Wednesday.

“We issued the stop-work order on the construction of two toll gantries until complete documents are submitted.”

He said the relevant party had several months ago submitted the drawing plans and other relevant documents, but the information provided was incomplete, and the council had subsequently requested re-submission of documents.

However, he said the relevant party had not responded to the request.

Rose Samsul said as the road is a private property, so long as the relevant party applies to the municipal council and submit the required documents as per the procedures, there shouldn’t be any problem getting approval.

However, the question of toll collection is beyond the municipal council’s jurisdiction and the relevant party will still need to apply to the state government and relevant department.
