PETALING JAYA: A division leader is seeking clarification from MCA secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon for state seats without Barisan Nasional candidates.

“Who should the MCA support if the state seat is without a Barisan Nasional candidate?” asked Datuk Steven Lim who is the Klang MCA chairman.

In a statement, Lim said he was supporting a candidate from the unity government in his speech at a temple, and was subsequently “attacked’ by cybertroopers.

He pointed out that MCA is also part of the unity government and the three state seats in Klang are without a candidate from Barisan Nasional.

“The Perikatan Nasional (PN) and the ‘green wave’ are getting increasingly aggressive. The Chinese community is worried.

“Once the green wave captures Selangor, the consequence is beyond imagination,” he said.

“The strong attacks by cybertroopers are clear signals showing they are campaigning for PN,” he said.

Lim stressed that cybertroopers are free to vote for their candidates of choice without sabotaging the Klang MCA.

Lim was attending a dinner held at a temple in Pandamaran together with Klang MCA deputy chairman Tee Hooi Ling, He was seated with Parti Keadilan Rakyat leaders and the DAP candidate for Pandamaran Leong Tuck Chee on Sunday.

The event was posted on the Klang MCA Facebook calling on voters to support candidates from the unity government.

The post attracted negative remarks ticking off the Klang MCA division for assisting DAP in campaigning.

Some netizens commented the move as “betrayal.”

Another netizen shared the post of Chong stating that MCA’s stand was clear that the party would not campaign for Pakatan Harapan.
