TSMC scholarship for Malaysian students to pursue postgraduate in semiconductor

PENANG: Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited (TSMC) is collaborating with National Yang Ming Chiao Tong University to offer students in Asean countries scholarships to pursue postgraduate semiconductor studies in Taiwan.

Malaysian students are welcome to apply.

Lee Cheng-yi, the university’s vice president, said the university has collaborated with TSMC since 2022 to offer scholarships to students in Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia and other countries to pursue a master’s degree in semiconductor.

As a research university, Lee said it provides researchers for the semiconductor industry.

TSMC offers a two-year scholarship valued at RM52,200.

Scholarship recipients will get to join TSMC’s internship program too.

Lee said Malaysian students majoring in electrical, electronics, physics, material science & engineering, chemistry, and chemical engineering are encouraged to apply. Deadline is June 12.

No age limit has been set for scholarship applicants. Malaysians with working experience are also eligible to apply, said Lee.

The postgraduate program will be conducted in English but applicants are required to submit evidence of their Chinese literacy to meet the work requirements later.
