PETALING JAYA: Hong Kong celebrity chef Hugo Leung Man To savored various local snacks and finger foods at SS2 night market in Petaling Jaya.
Accompanied by Kampung Tunku state assemblyman Lim Yi Wei and SS2 night market hawker association members, this was Leong’s second visit to SS2.
He first came here ten years ago.
Locals who recognized him at the night market took the opportunity to take photographs with him.
Lim said Leung was invited by the hawker association and local shops to visit the night market.
“By inviting him to savor local delicacies, we hope to attract more people to the night market,” said the assemblyman, adding that night market could be a place for local and foreign tourists to learn more about the local culture.
Leung said compared to those in Taiwan and Thailand, Malaysia’s night markets are unique for their cultural diversity.
Thanks to the diversity, one gets to savor different types of local delicacies such as roti canai, laksa and curry.
On his favorite food in Malaysia, Leung replied, “This question is too difficult for me. The Malay delicacies are great. The apam balik which I tried just now with sugar, corn and peanuts is tasty,” he said.
