Sam Ke Ting acquitted

PUTRAJAYA: The Court of Appeal has acquitted Sam Ke Ting in the “basikal lajak” incident causing the death of eight teenagers in Johor Bahru six years ago.

The three-judge panel chaired by Justice Hadhariah Syed Ismail unanimously allowed Sam’s appeal on the grounds the charge “was incorrect, it was defective. The conviction was also incorrect.”

Sam was sentenced on April 13 last year to six years’ jail and RM6,000 fine for reckless driving causing the death of eight teenagers on Jalan Lingkaran Dalam, Johor Baru, at 3.20 am, February 18, 2017.
