MELAKA: Melaka is said to have a new chief minister this week.
The Star reported that the aide of Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali was vacating his office, and that state investment, industry, entrepreneur development and cooperatives committee chairman Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh will be sworn in as the new chief minister Friday afternoon.
It is anticipated that the new chief minister will appoint two DAP assemblymen to the state cabinet.
As of 4 p.m. this afternoon, Melaka state assemblymen had not yet received any invitation on the swearing-in of the new chief minister, although they had learned about the rumor.
Melaka Umno chairman Ab Rauf was not a state assemblyman when Suleiman took over as chief minister in March 2020.
However, Ab Rauf was elected state assemblyman for Tanjung Bidara in the November 2021 state election.
