Sole Year One Indian pupil at SJK (C) Bin Sin

KERIAN: An Indian is the sole Year One pupil at SJK (C) Bin Sin in Titi Serong, Parit Buntar this year.

Headmistress Chiah Ai Ning said the Indian pupil, who was studying at a kindergarten of another Chinese primary school, took part in a coloring contest organized by SJK (C) Bin Sin last year.

After the coloring contest, the Indian pupil’s parents decided to send the child to the school which is near to the estate house.

Chiah said the coloring contest helped parents know about the school’s location, as many Chinese families have moved out from the area.

Upgraded facilities sponsored by a company at SJK (C) Bin Sin.

The school has received three sets of 65-inch smart TVs from a Kuala Kurau company, to upgrade the facilities in the school.

The school is well-equipped with facilities but the number of pupils has dropped from 22 to only 12, as an old driver who drove more than 10km each way to send the eight pupils from Tanjung Piandang to the school has retired.

SJK (C) Sin Hwa in Parit Buntar is the largest Chinese primary school in Kerian district where a total of 102 pupils graduated last year but only 82 new pupils have been registered. The school now has 631 pupils.

SJK (C) Nam Hwa in Tanjung Piandang, the second largest school in the district, has about 478 pupils. The school has just started a kindergarten this year.
