PETALING JAYA: Former international trade and industry minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali and former education minister Mohd Radzi Jidin are Perikatan Nasional’s most likely menteri besar candidates in the coming Selangor state election.

Free Malaysia Today reported that Azmi Hassan of Akademi Nusantara believed Azmin stands a better chance as he was Selangor menteri besar from 2014 to 2018.

However, he was also worried Azmin could be defeated as in the Gombak parliamentary election last November.

Azmi believed Mohd Radzi could be a “reserve candidate” given his previous ministerial experience and the fact he beat Umno’s Tengku Adnan to become Putrajaya MP in the 15th general election.

“It now depends on whether he (Azmin) still wants to run. With no guarantee that he will win, Bersatu will likely put Mohd Radzi and state chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Rashid Asari as reserve candidates.”
