Khairy: will not return to Umno unless…

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Umno Youth chairman Khairy Jamaluddin said it was unfair for the supreme council to accuse him of destroying the party.

He said he criticized the party leadership during the election campaign because he wanted to restore the party’s credibility as well as the voters’ faith in Umno.

He said in an interview with BFM that he did not want the party to keep losing support, especially among urban voters.

Khairy admitted he had received proposals to join another party, but said he would only make a decision after serious consideration.

However, he insisted that he would not go back to Umno unless there are changes within the party, including a change in the party’s leadership.

He also said he would not appeal against his sacking because there’s no point appealing to the same group of people who wanted him out.

Although he is now partiless, Khairy still hopes to be prime minister some day.

He does not rule out the possibility of taking part in the coming state elections.
