Umno: 20 witnesses for PAS’ vote-buying

KUALA LUMPUR: Terengganu Umno chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Said said the Umno state liaison committee had summoned almost 20 witnesses, most of whom young people from 18 to 21 years of age, on the alleged vote-buying by PAS in three parliamentary seats in the state.

These three seats were all won by PAS candidates in the 15th general election, namely Kuala Terengganu (Datuk Seri Ahmad Amzad Mohamed), Marang (PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang) and Kemaman (Che Alias Hamid).

Ahmad Said claimed that PAS offered bribes to candidates in these three parliamentary constituencies from November 16 to 18 last year, just before the general election.

He said the money was channeled through the state government’s “i-siswa,” “i-belia” and “i-pencen” schemes for university students, young voters and pensioners respectively.

The total amount involved was RM143 million.
