PETALING JAYA: MCA will be having a meeting with all election candidates in the 15th general election for a post-mortem on January 7.
It is learned that the meeting will focus on reviewing issues cropped up during the election and to find a path for the party in future.
MCA contested a total of 44 parliamentary seats but won only two – Ayer Hitam and Tanjung Piai, both in Johor.
Unlike the briefing session held when the unity government was formed, the January 7 meeting will involve all election candidates, according to a source.
“Only division chairmen were invited to the briefing. But this time, all election candidates will attend the meeting,” said the source.
MCA president Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong will chair the meeting. Wee won the Ayer Hitam parliamentary seat and another MCA candidate Datuk Seri Wee Jeck Seng won the Tanjung Piai parliamentary seat.
MCA was given more parliamentary seats to contest in the 15th general election. In 2018, it contested only 39 parliamentary seats.
Although MCA is not in the cabinet, the party supports the unity government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
