KANGAR: Perlis mufti Datuk Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin said if DAP was able to apologize to Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), it should also be able to apologize to Muslims and Malays in the country, and make sure they will take care of the feelings of Muslims and the Malay society in future.
Asri felt that DAP joining the new government should help allay the fears of Muslims and the Malay society, otherwise they would not be able to change the stereotyped impression Muslims and Malays had on them, and would continue to be rejected.
He said if the new government was worried about implementing policies that might contravene the country’s characteristics and the principle of clean governance, perhaps Muslim-majority parties should be encouraged to join the unity government, adding that this would help allay the fears of the new government having to face a no-confidence vote in parliament.
