Constructive reply by independent candidate on self-castration

KUALA LUMPUR: Independent candidate Lee Wai Hong is creative in responding to snipe remark by a netizen on self-castration if he can win the election.

A netizen commented that he would perform self-castration if Lee could win.

“It’s only an election, no need to cut kuku or hurt yourself. If I can secure the deposit, let’s donate RM10,000 to Chinese primary school together, how about that?” Lee wrote in his reply.

Since announcing that he would contest the Seputeh parliamentary seat, Lee has been facing a barrage of criticisms and mockery.

He has been given names such as a spoiler, a bastard, a loser, etc.

Lee responded to the name calling by inviting those to vote for him instead.

“I will speak on your behalf, vote for the rabbit and it’s Year of Rabbit next year,” said Lee, who chose rabbit as his symbol on the ballot paper.

While some felt independent candidates would dilute the votes, Lee said the remarks made by netizens should be reasonable.

“Malaysia is a democratic country. Eligible citizens are allowed to contest. My participation in this election proves that joining politics is not impossible,” he said.

Instead of criticizing independent candidates, Lee said Malaysians should vote for those who are capable and pay attention to the political views of candidates to stay away from hate politics.

Lee is contesting the Seputeh parliamentary seat in a five-cornered battle where incumbent Teresa Kok is defending the seat.

Other candidates are Lee Kah Hing from Barisan Nasional, Wong Yee Yeng from Perikatan Nasional and independent candidate Choy San Yeh.
