PETALING JAYA: Consumers directly affected by yesterday’s power outage can seek physical damages from Tenaga Nasional Berhad through legal channels.

Former Malaysian Bar president Salim Bashir told Sin Chew Daily consumers directly impacted by the power outage could seek compensation from TNB under Tort of Negligence.

He said the service provider had the duty to supply electricity services to the consumers.

Another ground for litigation, according to Salim, is the violation of Electricity Supply Act 1990 Section 24 duty to supply on request.
