PETALING JAYA, Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said the Umno supreme council had never discussed the content of the secret agreement signed between prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
Ahmad Maslan told Sin Chew Daily in a telephone interview that there is no need to refer Ismail to Umno’s disciplinary board at this juncture.
When asked whether the action of Tan Sri Annuar Musa, one of the witnesses of the singing of the agreement, had breached any of the party’s regulations and could be subjected to the party’s disciplinary actions, Ahmad Maslan said, “I feel it hasn’t reached that stage yet.”
He also said the if the agreement exposed by Raja Petra Kamarudin was real, it involved two major issues: the appointment of deputy prime minister and general election date.
“It is the prime minister’s prerogative to appoint anyone to any position. And the other issue is the election date because he said the election date should be this July.
“The prime minister has said he would discuss with Umno’s Top 5, Umno supreme council and BN supreme council about this matter.”
Former Umno supreme council member Datuk Lokman Noor Adam has said both Ismail Sabri and Annuar Musa should be brought before Umno’s disciplinary board as Raja Petra proved that they had betrayed Umno by signing an agreement with Perikatan Nasional.
