PETALING JAYA: DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang has declined the party mentor post.

It is learned that Lim made the announcement during a dinner on 12 April with DAP’s members of parliament and central executive committee (CEC) members.

Lim, 81, who has been in politics for more than 50 years, said he would give his full support to the new leadership.

On 20 March, the Iskandar Puteri MP announced his retirement from politics during the party’s national congress.

He said he would no longer contest in any form of election, including the CEC in DAP.

DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook announced that Lim would be appointed the mentor of the party after the party election held in conjunction with the national congress.
