Special sitting to table anti-hopping bill next week?

KUALA LUMPUR: Minister in the prime minister’s department (parliament and law) Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar will likely request for a special parliamentary sitting in accordance with the Dewan Rakyat Standing Order 11(3) to table the anti-hopping bill.

From the information made available to Sin Chew Daily, the first meeting of the fifth session of the 14th parliament which is supposed to conclude this Thursday, will likely be extended for two more days next week.

Although the source has not specified the purpose of the extension, it is believed to be related to the tabling of the anti-hopping bill.

“Wan Junaidi said there would be a special parliamentary sitting next week. Let’s hope he will keep his promise (of adopting the anti-hopping bill).”

When contacted, Wan Junaidi nevertheless declined to respond whether a special sitting will be held.
