KUCHING, Dec 8 (Sin Chew Daily) — Parties on both side of the political divide are competing for the best spots to erect their billboards and banners to achieve the best publicity impact in the upcoming state polls.
A war of banners has started in several areas in Kuching, including Kota Sentosa, Batu Kawa, Batu Lintang, Padungan, Pending and Satok.
Traffic islands are considered the most ideal spots as banners and billboards of various political parties are vying for the premium space to grab the attention of passers-by.
Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and Democratic Action Party (DAP) have the most in numbers, followed by Parti Sarawak Bersatu, Parti Bumi Kenyalang and Parti Aspirasi Rakyat Sarawak.
In Miri, political banners are used as a publicity tool in addition to giant posters of the candidates.
A sea of banners and flags bearing the logos of political parties are seen in major streets in Sibu for voters to know their candidates better.
Polling day for the 12th Sarawak state election has been set on December 18.
