PETALING JAYA, Nov 28 (Sin Chew Daily) — Ice cubes will be more expensive from now on.
As the notice of price revision released by Gardenia for a wide range of bread products has become a heated topic for discussions, an ice cube supplier has also decided to increase its price.
Lembah Pantai Member of Parliament Fahmi Fadzil posted a letter by an ice cube supplier on Twitter that the price of ice cubes would be up.
In a letter issued to its customers on November 20, an ice cube supplier revised the price by an additional RM0.50 per pack effective December 1.
Some netizens are worried the price revision could lead to more expensive drinks.
The supplier explained that ice cube prices were revised upward as the ice factory had increased their prices for the first time in two years.
A pack of 14kg ice cubes which is sold at RM2.50 will now be RM3.
“The price of ice cubes varies according to area. Some suppliers are already selling more than RM3 per pack,’’ he said.
“Transportation, lorry maintenance, prices of fuels and plastic bags have all increased. So, the price of ice cubes should be increased too,” said the supplier.
