PUTRAJAYA, Sept 2 (Sin Chew Daily) – A total of 20,988 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the country as of noon today, including one imported case.

Selangor reported 4,073 new cases, followed by Sarawak (2,992), Kedah (2,455), Sabah (2,329), Johor (2,145), Penang (1,600),  Kelantan (1,247), Perak (990), Terengganu (987), Kuala Lumpur (731), Pahang (599), Melaka (407) and Negeri Sembilan (301).

To date there are a cumulative total of 1,786,004 confirmed cases and 1,506,273 recoveries (including 23,473 recovering today) at 84.34% recovery rate.

249 new deaths were reported today, taking the toll to 17,191.

There are currently 262,540 active cases, including 1,001 at ICUs, 470 requiring ventilators.
