PUTRAJAYA, Sept 1 (Sin Chew Daily) – A total of 18,762 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the country as of noon today, including five imported cases.

Selangor reported 3,711 new cases, followed by Sabah (2,430), Sarawak (2,414), Johor (1,993), Penang (1,762), Kedah (1,585),  Kelantan (1,504), Perak (899), Pahang (715), Kuala Lumpur (573), Terengganu (506), Melaka (309) and Negeri Sembilan (291).

To date there are a cumulative total of 1,765,016 confirmed cases and 1,482,800 recoveries (including 21,073 recovering today) at 84.01% recovery rate.

278 new deaths were reported today, taking the toll to 16,942.

There are currently 265,274 active cases, including 1,007 at ICUs, 464 requiring ventilators.
