PUTRAJAYA, Aug 31 (Sin Chew Daily) – A total of 20,897 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the country as of noon today, including one imported case.

Selangor reported 4,371 new cases, followed by Sabah (2,594), Sarawak (2,285), Johor (2,159), Kedah (1,942), Penang (1,732), Kelantan (1,479), Perak (1,204), Kuala Lumpur (1,003), Pahang (798), Terengganu (608), Melaka (417) and Negeri Sembilan (215).

To date there are a cumulative total of 1,746,254 confirmed cases and 1,461,727 recoveries (including 18,465 recovering today) at 83.71% recovery rate.

282 new deaths were reported today, taking the toll to 16,664.

There are currently 267,863 active cases, including 1,005 at ICUs, 464 requiring ventilators.
