PUTRAJAYA, Aug 18 (Sin Chew Daily) – A record 22,242 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the country as of noon today, including four imported cases.

Selangor reported 6,858 new cases, followed by Sabah (2,413), Penang (1,867), Kedah (1,852), Kuala Lumpur (1,587), Johor (1,477), Sarawak (1,403), Kelantan (1,351), Perak (1,036), Pahang (675), Melaka (579), Negeri Sembilan (577) and Terengganu (487).

To date there are a cumulative total of 1,466,512 confirmed cases and 1,198,726 recoveries (including 19,680 recovering today) at 81.74% recovery rate.

225 new deaths were reported today, taking the toll to 13,302.

There are currently 254,484 active cases, including 1,060 at ICUs, 540 requiring ventilators.
