PUTRAJAYA, Aug 17 (Sin Chew Daily) – A total of 19,631 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the country as of noon today, including seven imported cases.

Selangor reported 5,753 new cases today, followed by Sabah (2,103), Kedah (1,863), Kuala Lumpur (1,765), Johor (1,309), Penang (1,275), Kelantan (1,268), Perak (1,101), Sarawak (835), Pahang (670), Melaka (623), Terengganu (498) and Negeri Sembilan (490).

To date there are a cumulative total of 1,444,270 confirmed cases and 1,179,046 recoveries (including 16,468 recovering today) at 81.64% recovery rate.

293 new deaths were reported today, taking the toll to 13,077.

There are currently 252,147 active cases, including 1,054 at ICUs, 525 requiring ventilators.
