KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 14 (Sin Chew Daily) — Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's proposed seven-point cross-party framework for a bipartisan government is the result of engagement sessions involving Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz and two members of parliament from DAP – Tony Pua (Damansara) and Ong Kian Ming ( Bangi) , to initiate parliamentary and institutional reforms, says a reliable source.
The negotiators were authorized by DAP top leadership to finalize the reform pledges, said the source.
Muhyiddin announced the seven-point proposals as requested by the DAP to express his commitment to initiate the reforms.
However, the Pakatan Harapan Presidential Council issued a statement on the same night to reject Muhyiddin’s proposal and urged him to resign.
The seven-point proposals are:
1. All members of parliament from all parties would receive equal allocations.

3. A new bill would be proposed to set a two-term limit for the prime minister post and a bill on anti-party hopping laws.
4. Initiate parliamentary reforms and enhance monitoring to have a more balanced representation of MPs from both political divide.
5. Voting age to be lowered to 18 without waiting for the process of automatic voter registration by tabling a bill in parliament.
6. A Supply Bill will only be tabled in parliament after securing majority support from MPs.
7. The Opposition Leader is recognized and the position is equivalent to those of a senior minister.
