KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 11 (Sin Chew Daily) – Although prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is said to no longer have the support of majority of members of parliament, he will not resign under pressure but will go ahead with the confidence vote in parliament.

A source told Sin Chew Daily Muhyiddin chaired the cabinet meeting as usual this morning, and will meet all Perikatan Nasional component party leaders this evening.

In addition to briefing party leaders of his audience with His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong this morning, Muhyiddin is also expected to discuss the possibility of convening a special parliamentary sitting early in order to table the confidence motion.

An Umno source has pointed out that Muhyiddin can no longer wait until September 6 to table the confidence vote, as he no longer has the majority support in parliament, or it will constitute disrespect for the King who will deliver his speech on the first day of the parliamentary sitting.

Additionally, Pakatan Harapan parties have exerted pressure on the prime minister to face the confidence vote early instead of waiting until September 6.

The source said there could be a decision whether to table the confidence motion early after this afternoon's meeting.
