PUTRAJAYA, Aug 6 (Sin Chew Daily) – Another record of 20,889 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the country as of noon today, including 13 imported cases.

Selangor reported 8,792 new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (2,483), Kedah (1,371), Sabah (1,291), Johor (1,275), Negeri Sembilan (986), Kelantan (938), Penang (776), Sarawak (652), Perak (624), Pahang (610), Melaka (491), Terengganu (460) and Putrajaya (122).

To date there are a cumulative total of 1,224,595 confirmed cases and  993,020 recoveries (including 16,394 recovering today) at 81.09% recovery rate.

160 new deaths were reported today, taking the toll to 10,179.

There are currently 221,396 active cases, including 1,096 at ICUs, 545 requiring ventilators.
