PUTRAJAYA, Aug 4 (Sin Chew Daily) – A record 19,819 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the country as of noon today, including 23 imported cases.

Selangor reported 8,377 new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (2,467), Kedah (1,371), Johor (1,162), Kelantan (1,003), Sabah (949), Penang (867), Negeri Sembilan (800), Perak (662), Pahang (558), Sarawak (552), Melaka (508) and Terengganu (481).

To date there are a cumulative total of 1,183,110 confirmed cases and 962,733 recoveries (including 12,704 recovering today) at 81.37% recovery rate.

A record 257 new deaths were reported today, taking the toll to 9,855.

There are currently 210,522 active cases, including 1,069 at ICUs, 553 requiring ventilators.
