Nazri: 25 BN reps reject Zahid as spokesperson

KUALA LUMPUR, June 23 (Sin Chew Daily) – Umno's member of parliament for Padang Rengas Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz said he had collected the signatures of 25 Barisan Nasional MPs in a statutory declaration to reject Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as representing BN to show its support for Parti Keadilan Rakyat president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and DAP.

He told Sin Chew Daily he had collected the signatures of 25 MPs to support foreign minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein as their spokesperson instead.

"We have no faith in the Umno president. We don't believe he will represent 25 of us to tell His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong our position of not supporting Anwar and DAP.

"We all reject Anwar and DAP, but Ahmad Zahid wrote to His Majesty last October that all Barisan MPs supported Anwar as prime minister.

"That was a lie!

"The second lie was his phone conversation with Anwar over the 2020 Umno general assembly.

"Umno delegates had said 'no' to Anwar and DAP.

"He even forced Jerantut MP (Ahmad Nazlan) to support Anwar."

However, Nazri declined to reveal whether the Barisan Nasional MPs signing the statutory declaration include also MPs from MCA and MIC.

"I can't tell who they are. But I can tell you there are 25."
