PUTRAJAYA, May 28 (Sin Chew Daily) – Record 8,290 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the country as of noon today, including two imported cases.

Selangor reported 2,052 new cases, followed by Kelantan (851), Kuala Lumpur (830), Johor (762), Sarawak (698), Kedah (544), Negeri Sembilan (520), Penang (421), Perak (405), Melaka (380), Sabah (308), Pahang (254) and Terengganu (207).

To date there are a cumulative total of 549,514 confirmed cases and 474,139 recoveries (including 4,814 discharged today) at 86.29% recovery rate.

61 new deaths were reported today, taking the toll to 2,552.

There are currently 72,823 active cases, including 808 at ICUs, 403 requiring ventilators.
