KUALA LUMPUR, Apr 7 (Sin Chew Daily) – Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun said former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is still the Member of Parliament for Pekan.

He said Najib would remain a Member of Parliament unless the court had declared him a bankrupt.

During an interview with Sin Chew Daily, Azhar said a person would only lose the MP status if he is a bankrupted person unable to settle his debts.

"Being served a bankruptcy notice does not mean he is already a bankrupt. So Najib is still an MP unless the court has passed a bankruptcy verdict or issued a property takeover order."
