KUALA LUMPUR, Mar 30 (Sin Chew Daily) — Since the launch of MyBayar Saman portal offering 50% discount to settle traffic summonses, the police have collected more than RM19.58 million in just four days.

More than 36,000 people have registered with the portal and settled 177,511 traffic tickets.

Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) director Datuk Azisman Alias said RM19,586,239 had been collected so far via the portal for the settlement of traffic summonses.

The portal recorded its highest collection of RM7,277,090 in settling 66,893 summonses on March 27, he said.

MyBayar Saman collected RM3,253,779 to settle 29,936 summonses on March 28.

Members of the public paid RM4,317,390 for 37,213 traffic tickets on the first day (Mach 25) and RM4,737,989 for 43,469 summonses on March 26, Azisman added.

He said the online portal to settle traffic summonses was well received by the public as it recorded a total of 366,728 users through website and mobile application.

The police are offering discounts of up to 50% for traffic tickets paid via the MyBayar Saman portal and mobile app until April 11.

However, the offer does not apply to major traffic offenses such as jumping the red light, speeding, overtaking on double lines, using handphone while driving, driving on emergency lane, accident cases, cases pending trial, lorries violating traffic rules and vehicles with modified exhaust pipes.

Members of the public can register as user at the MyBayar Saman website or download the app from Google Play Store or Apple Store to check on outstanding summonses before settling them.

For those who are unable to pay online, they could visit state police headquarters to apply for the 50% discount, Azisman said.
