KUALA LUMPUR, Mar 5 (Sin Chew Daily) — Liang Zhong Qiang, also known as Uncle Leong, 66, finally gets to leave the damaged home he has lived for a decade, as he moves into a low-cost flat in Salak South.
It took federal territories minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa one week to fulfill Liang's wish.
Liang also managed to trace two of his siblings whom he had lost touch with, and they will be moving into the flat with Liang.
Accompanied by philanthropist Kuan Chee Heng, affectionately known as Uncle Potato, Annuar visited Liang at his home in Salak South late February. Annuar was in tears when he first learned that Liang lived in the ruined home for the past ten years.
A fallen tree damaged the wooden house ten years ago. Liang and his siblings were subsequently relocated to a community hall while waiting for a low-cost flat.
They moved back to the ruined house after receiving no news about their application for a low-cost flat.

The condition of the ruined house, without water and electricity, has deteriorated over the years.
Liang used a piece of canvas to cover a room in the house. The roof leaked whenever it rained.
Annuar promised to arrange for Liang to move into a low-cost flat as soon as possible, and he did it in just one week.
The minister also paid the RM124 monthly rent of the flat for Liang for a year, and sourced some furniture for the new home, while his staff helped Liang renew his identity card.
Annuar personally handed over the key to Liang and visited the flat on March 4.
In his Facebook post, Annuar said Kuan helped Liang to trace his sister and brother. He also thanked the Federal Territories Foundation for sponsoring the furniture.
Annuar said many people had sought help from him, but Liang's case was urgent as the wooden house was no longer fit for one to live.
Liang thanked the minister and those who had helped him move into the new flat which he will share with his younger siblings.
