KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 15 (Sin Chew Daily) — A special committee has been set up by the Association of Graduates from Universities and Colleges of China, Malaysia to assist Malaysian students to return to universities in China.
They have been unable to continue their studies in China since January due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mo Ze Lin, president of the association, urged agencies to join the special committee to assist the Malaysian students.
He said many local and foreign students had returned to universities in China since the second semester of 2020.
The association received feedback from Malaysian students that they had difficulties attending online classes in addition to other problems.
"We have tried to liaise with various parties involved. Although students are able to continue their studies through online classes, majority of them are forced to take a break as some universities are unable to offer online classes while some involve laboratories and internships.
"The quality of learning has been compromised," he said.
Malaysian students studying in China were also unable to return home to celebrate Chinese New Year.
The association is organizing an online gathering on February 15 to motivate Malaysian students in China.
It is also organizing another online gathering on February 17 targeting Malaysian students unable to return to China.
Chinese community leaders, government representatives and members of the association are invited to join the virtual gathering at 8pm on Wednesday.
A series of performances and lucky draws will also be held during the virtual gathering.
Those keen to join the gathering can register here.
