KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 26 (Sin Chew Daily) – If Parti Pejuang Tanah Air led by former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad cannot be successfully registered, the party is considering contesting the next general election under the banner of Parti Amanah Negara.
Pejuang deputy president Marzuki Yahya said his party was in discussion with Amanah on cooperation in the 15th general election to ensure it could contest as a legal entity
He told Sin Chew Daily even if the Registrar of Societies (RoS) rejects the party's registration application, it would still field candidates in the election.
"No. We're not going to merge with or take over another political party. We want to cooperate with it. This is one of our options.
"Currently we are in talks with Amanah, but this is not finalized yet."
When asked whether Pejuang was mulling cooperation with Parti Warisan Sabah's president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal, Marzuki said, "No. We're only in talks with Amanah at this moment.
"However, we now concentrate on appealing to RoS and wait for the outcome. Additionally, we also focus on helping the people affected by the pandemic."
He said the party had not yet discussed how many seats to contest in GE15, where to contest, and how to campaign.
