PH presidential council to meet on Perak, Anwar substitute

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 7 (Sin Chew Daily) – The Pakatan Harapan presidential council will meet at 15:30 this afternoon to discuss among other things whether the coalition will work with Umno to form the new Perak state government.

A PH leader told Sin Chew Daily the meeting would also discuss whether PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim still has the support of majority of Members of Parliament, and whether he is still suitable to be Opposition Leader and PH chairman.

"PH convened a review meeting after the adoption of the 2021 Budget last week. Anwar said in the meeting he would prove within a week that he had the support of majority MPs or he would quit as Opposition Leader and PH chairman. It is believed that today's meeting will talk about this.

"However, we know that perhaps there isn't a better person to take over Anwar!"

It has been learned that Anwar is not in good terms with Parti Warisan Sabah president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal, and it is therefore difficult for both sides to cooperate at this juncture.

The source also said that Perak PH had started negotiating with Umno but no agreement had been reached.

This afternoon's PH presidential council meeting will study the details of negotiation before making a decision.

"We are still weighing the pros and cons for PH. No decisions yet!"
