PETALING JAYA, Nov 3 (Sin Chew Daily) – The immigration department launched the My Travel Pass program in October for Malaysians and foreigners to apply online to reunite with their separated spouses or partners.

Love Is Not Tourism Malaysia representative Khanusha Shereen Neesha told Sin Chew Daily most of the Malaysians applying to travel out of the country, and foreign spouses of Malaysians applying to enter the country, had been approved under the My Travel Pass program.

"So far many have received the good news. Most of their applications have been approved."

Khanusha said although she did not have the actual number of successful applications, over the past one month there have been a number of Love Is Not Tourism Malaysia members sharing news of their successful applications on the private chat group every day.

"For unmarried couples, their applications to travel out of the country will normally be approved by the immigration department, but you have to prove that you will not return to the country soon.

"As for traveling into the country, the success rate is 50 to 50. Some unmarried partners are allowed to enter Malaysia but others are not, depending on the documents submitted."

Love Is Not Tourism Malaysia's Facebook group has about 1,800 members, mainly Malaysian citizens and their foreign partners separated due to the coronavirus pandemic and the MCO imposed by the government since March.
