Parliament receives motion of confidence for Muhyiddin

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 30 (Sin Chew Daily) — Apart from 16 Members of Parliament from the opposition who have filed motions of no confidence against prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, two MPs from Perikatan Nasional have also filed a motion of confidence for the prime minister.

Umno's MP for Arau Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim and PAS' MP for Pasir Puteh Nik Muhammad Zawawi Salleh have filed motions of confidence for Muhyiddin.

Shahidan is the chairman of Dewan Rakyat Backbencher's Club while Nik Muhammad the deputy chairman.

Their motions are regarded as private motions listed after government matters according to the Order Paper for November 2.

Dewan Rakyat will resume its sitting next Monday.

Nik Muhammad's motion was ranked No 19 while the no-confidence motion against the PM by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was No 20.

Shahidan's motion was No 46 on the list. He tabled the motion of confidence for Muhyiddin to acknowledge his leadership in containing the COVID-19 pandemic and reviving the economy.

In the motion, Shahidan also said Muhyiddin is a caring and capable leader who is well respected by Malaysians.
