Umno to renegotiate terms of cooperation with PPBM, wants a DPM post

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 27 (Sin Chew Daily) – After Umno supreme council meeting has decided to continue supporting the Perikatan Nasional government, the party will start to renegotiate terms of cooperation with PPBM, including a deputy prime minister post.

According to a source, Umno grassroots have wanted the party to fight for a DPM post.

"The consultative committee will negotiate new terms of cooperation with PPBM, including a DPM post and other positions."

The source said last night's meeting also discussed the issue of a snap election, but this would depend on the next moves of prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, including the appointment of a DPM, handling of the coronavirus pandemic and measures to revamp the economy.

However, the meeting did not touch on the letter said to be signed by party president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in support of Parti Keadilan Rakyat president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
