KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 27 (Sin Chew Daily) – The proposal to work with Parti Keadilan Rakyat president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was vetoed in last night's Umno supreme council meeting.
According to a source, one of the reasons is that Umno does not want to work with DAP, and it feels that Anwar may not go without DAP.
"Some feel that DAP lacks sincerity. They may work with you now, but may change in future.
"However, it will be a different story if we work with Anwar and Umno gets the prime minister post."
A supreme council member attending the meeting told Sin Chew Daily former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had proposed to work with Anwar minus DAP.
The source said some of the supreme council members were in favor of cooperation with Anwar but majority rejected.
"They think PKR is Umno's rival and it's impossible to work with the party. Moreover, Umno refuses to work with DAP.
"Since PKR has formed an alliance with DAP, we feel that Anwar will not go without DAP."
