JOHOR BAHRU, Oct 25 (Sin Chew Daily) — The Malaysia-Singapore border has been shut for more than seven months now due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Many Malaysians working in Singapore have been separated from their families for more than 200 days.

In an event organized by R&F Group, Malaysians boarded a yacht owned by the company in order to "meet" their loved ones in Singapore across the Straits of Johor.

The yacht made a total of four trips ferrying Malaysians with their children to the border of Johor Bahru and Singapore in the Straits of Johor to have a closer look at their family members standing at the Woodlands Waterfront Park in Singapore.

Some children brought along balloons, white boards and drawings to board the yacht in order to show their fathers at the Woodlands Waterfront Park in Singapore.

Some also brought binoculars to locate their loved ones from aboard the yacht.

From the video captured in Singapore, a man was seen holding a whiteboard, shouting: "Father and mother, please take good care of yourselves. My dear wife, I love you. Thank you." He was seen wiping his tears.

Those on the yacht were mainly mothers, children and grandparents.

Many are looking forward to be reunited with their loved ones when the Malaysia-Singapore border reopens.
