Nazri: Last chance for PPBM

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 15 (Sin Chew Daily) – Former minister in the prime minister's department Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz said Umno is still negotiating with PPBM to fight for an equal partnership.

He said during an interview with Sin Chew Daily that if the negotiation fails, Umno will withdraw its support for prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

He also said Umno is giving PPBM the last chance, and is now waiting for the outcome of the negotiation between the two parties..

"Umno will talk to PPBM and offer new conditions. If these are not accepted by them, that's the end of our relationship.

"I fully support the Umno political bureau's consideration to withdraw its support for Perikatan Nasional because PPBM is bullying Umno.

"We are unhappy. PPBM is a party without grassroots but it wants to bring down Umno and weaken the Muafakat Nasional alliance. PPBM lost in Tanjung Piai because it lacked grassroots support.

"We won't cooperate with PPBM in the next general election. We'll fight it, be it in one-on-one or multi-cornered fights.

"They took away 15 of our MPs, the Sabah CM and Perak MB posts."

Nazri said the new conditions set by Umno do not include dropping the charges against Umno leaders, but Umno wants the government to also investigate cases like the involvement of a leader in sex scandal and former Umno MPs being bribed by PPBM to jump ship.

He also said Umno will not support Parti Keadilan Rakyat president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the country's next prime minister; nor will it work with DAP and former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.."
