Wee, Azmin: Parliament will resume in November

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 7 (Sin Chew Daily) – Both MCA president Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong and ministry of international trade and industry senior minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali concur that a snap election will not be held in October as expected, and the Parliament will resume in November.

Wee told Sin Chew Daily the ruling Perikatan Nasional would only decide when to dissolve the Parliament after the state elections in Sabah and Sarawak.

Sabah's election will be held on September 26 while Sarawak will hold its election latest by next July.

From the information made available to Sin Chew Daily, Sarawak chief minister Abang Johari will only dissolve the state legislative assembly after tabling the 2021 state budget in November.

"Barring any unforeseen circumstances, I strongly believe the Parliament will resume in late October or early November," said Wee.

On the 15th general election, he said, "This will depend on the outcome of the two state elections because Sarawak will also have its election quite soon. I believe the outcome of the elections will serve as a guide when is the best time for the general election."

Meanwhile, Azmin Ali also confirmed with Sin Chew Daily that the just concluded Dewan Rakyat session would not be the last before the general election.

"I think the Parliament will resume. The next session is coming soon and we'll be back for the tabling of the 2021 Budget."
