PETALING JAYA. June 15 (Sin Chew Daily) – The prime ministerial candidate for Pakatan Harapan ++ is expected to be finalized tomorrow.

A PH leader told Sin Chew Daily PH++ is still negotiating and the Top Five leaders are expected to make an announcement tomorrow once the candidate is finalized.

"PKR, DAP and Amanah all support Anwar Ibrahim as prime minister, but you need to have majority support if you want to be PM.

"PH only has 91 seats now and we therefore must discuss with other parties.

"PH's choice is Anwar, but we don't have the numbers to form a new government. We need to negotiate in order to get at least 112 seats."

An insider has said negotiations came to a stalemate after former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has insisted to become PM for six months, while Parti Warisan Sabah president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal also supports Mahathir as PM.

It has been learned that Mahathir has in a PH++ meeting proposed to make Anwar deputy PM and finance minister, but this has not been agreed by PH.

The insider said PH++ mainly discusses about the PM candidate and has not touched on the issue of DPM.

However, some PH parties have discussed the issue in private, and among the likely DPM candidates are former Kedah menteri besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir and Sabah chief minister Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal.
